"I want to thank you again for your interest in The Augusta Market and for your support. The market is aimed at helping to grow downtown Augusta by supporting local merchants and showcases local talent. Health and wellness are two key aspects of the market that we promote by offering fitness activities in the morning, such as runs on the river, as well as yoga and Pilate's on the river, which are taught by instructors from The Core Center. The market gives people a chance to purchase fresh produce that is home-grown by local merchants and members of our community. It is a unique and fun event for all ages that offers various activities for children, live entertainment from Augusta's most talented musicians and dancers, and that showcases the work of local artists. The DDA has just received a $35K grant to build an outdoor music venue which will be built along side the river where the market is held. The market will utilize that venue for concerts and for various other entertainment purposes during the market for our patrons to enjoy. The new venue will allow us to bring in bigger acts from all over. The market is still a work-in-progress but our team has a ton of great ideas that we will implement as we grow. Each week, there has been a significant amount of new vendors join the market and the number of patrons has increased with each market, which is so exciting to see. We are growing rapidly and it is definitely something that everyone in our community should take advantage of.
